American Quarter Horse
|
All of our mares are carefully selected to promote the best in this outstanding breed. Not only must they have the necessary conformation, they must also ride like not many can. These mares are respected & respect us. So many breeders 'specialize' their horses to do one thing, we'd like to give the option of a horse that can do MANY things by offering you the extremely versatile Skipper W bloodline. You can find Skipper W's in the cutting & reining pen, or showing off their physique's & smooth moves in the show arena.
***A breeders note: I have noticed of late that many magazines & some trainers have recently started promoting TRAIL RIDING for your horses resume. I have to admit that this was something I've sworn by all along. Some folks are proud of their "ring" horses & by goodness they should be! However, I have been equally as proud of our wonderful, predictable trail mounts. Please enjoy your visit with our horses - they are certainly all wonderful, dependable mounts - a very old, sometimes coveted, bond indeed.
"SteelinMidnightGold"
aka Megan, a 2002 brown filly. This little mare is 14.3hh & SO compact. This girl does NOT spook & hesitated only briefly at her first foray into water - had her up to her belly in the reservoir. Wonderful ground covering walk & a gentle little lope. This mare is a full sister to Nickie 3 below.

"Silvers Miss Charm"
aka Missie a 1999, 14.3hh, sorrel mare. She has Zan Parr Bar, Quincy Feature on her papers, Coy's Bonanza & Te N Te just off & traces to Skipper W (2 times). We purchased her from the same farm as Nickie & Megan as a yearling. She has a wonderful demeanor, good conformation & pretty head to give her babies all they need to be at the top. Missie's dam was chosen to be the mount of a physically challenged woman & she certainly passed on her tempermant.

"Skipalicious" Skips Montana Gold x Golds Nick of Steel
2005 AQHA Filly. Another filly out of "Golds Nick of Steel", shown below. Her temperament is impeccable & we think she's got a very nice conformation too. Her DNA is being tested for the creme gene & we'll hope to know in the near future if she is buckskin, bay or brown.
Shown in the above left at 1 year old & right at 2 years. Under Left 4 mos, under right 1 year.

"Golds Nick of Steel"
aka Nickie 1997, 15hh, Buckskin mare. She is as close to our ideal QH as we have, she traces back to Skipper W 6 times. Nickie placed 3rd in a local open halter show in a field of 12 with just 20 min of practice (me too!). She also won the 50 yard dash! Nickie has team penned & shows an apptitude for "cow". Not only is she a great trail mount who can go anywhere, she has also proved herself as an exceptional broodmare. Such a wonderful producer in fact we kept 2 of her fillies by different stallions.

"SKIPS GOLD N JEWELS"
Jewel, foaled April 2003 is the first foal of Nickie (above) by "Special Instructions aka Skip" who has his ROM in Reining. Jewel is much more than we could have anticipated for our first "home grown" foal. Not only does she have wonderful conformation but she has an awesome personality to match. Currently she stands 15.1.

"Tender Gold Skipette"
aka Gold 1986 AQHA Sooty Palomino mare, 15.1hh. This mare is the dam of Nickie & Megan. A very easy going personality, mellow & intelligent - just awesome to be around. I suppose some of that came with age but I think she was born this way. Broke as a 2 year old she injured herself & paid her way as a broodmare. This girl is ALL Skipper W, by the Halter & Performance point earner Tender Six who is by Skips Bartender she is a beautiful "brick house". She has produced awesome show horses for 4-H folks in the Montg./Bucks Co. area. All her foals are stout, agile, tough & fun to be around. Competetion folks take note.
A special thanks to Bill & Kathy DeVito of DeVito QH's for making it possible to own Gold.

"Happys Te Time"
aka "Happy" (HYPP N/N) is a 2000 chestnut QH mare. She is a daughter of Sierra Te x Te N Te and out of Happy To Impress x Impressive. While she is obviously not foundation bred we do know how she crosses on foundation type stallions! Her sire, Sierra Te, was ranked #13 on the AQHA Sire's Barrel Racing list. She stands around 15hh. Happy is a quiet trail horse & is easy to ride. She is very well balanced with very correct legs. This mare is one of my favorites she is as sweet is the day is long. She is the only horse allowed to graze in the back yard out of the pasture.
See 2 of her past foals on the foal page.
